I'm back

It has been a difficult three weeks, and I'm very grateful to be home. My dear husband will be back on 5th March. I managed to take a few photos whilst I was away, so I'll post them over the next few days.

Short update

We are in W. Sussex with my very ill and confused mother in law. She is currently in hospital and we are not sure when she will be discharged or where to. It is very distressing to see her in such a state. We are trying to de-clutter her house whilst she is in hospital, so that if she is able to return, it is to a much more pleasant environment where you can move freely. We are trying to clean as we go along too.
It is very emotionally draining to see my husband so upset apart from the obvious sadness of visiting a very frail old lady everyday.
We have been supported by a couple of wonderful friends who live about 40 minutes drive from the hospital. I hope to get to the NE to see my parents briefly next week.

Family emergency - blog silence for a while

Dear Blog lurkers, drop-inners, regular friends and passers by.

Due to a family emergency in the UK, I will be airbound tomorrow morning and not sure when I will return to the blog. In theory I will be back in Middle Earth mid - February, but it's one of those "don't know" situations.

In praise of making faces

As I sat and sewed under a gazebo on our deck this afternoon, I got to thinking, did the Maker of the Universe have as much fun making and designing our facial expressions as I did making these? Did the God of Heaven sit under a celestial umbrella and dream up the nations / nationalities and variations on a theme? Fanciful I know. 

We are made in His image, so there must be a sprinkle of His creative fun in our DNA. I confess however, that I am not gifted enough to dream up a giraffe or warthog!

And in case we were in any doubt WHO we bought the new garden bench for........

Time to reflect

After much struggling and one knee scraping trip on my face, I gave up trying to erect our gazebo alone. My next door neighbours came to the rescue, and for the next 10 days we are promised sunshine with light winds, I will be retreating under this awning on the deck. My husband is somewhere between Auckland and Hong Kong as I type this, and I am already counting down the days until his return.
